As per the article below, Elon Musk recently hinted that Tesla (TSLA) has a surprise coming! The author suspects it may be a self-driving car.
This past February, Musk threw down the gauntlet on their “autopilot” efforts stating the company would be first to market with significant innovation in autonomous driving. Musk said autopilot is “not more than a few years away, with possible mass adoption within a 10-year timeframe.”
Earlier this month, we also noticed a hot IPO in Mobileye (MBLY), a leading provider of automated driving technology. At ETF PM, we would like to see “autopark.”
Automated driving technology should eventually enable the Model X to drop passengers at the curb, and park itself in the nearest available parking space, without a driver. These automated valet systems (“AutoValets”) of the future could save consumers significant amounts of time, money, and parking aggravation.
ETF PM has long positions in Tesla (TSLA).

On a conference call with analysts late Thursday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted at some surprises ahead from the high-end electric carmaker.
“In the past, we’ve shown all of our cards. So people have kind of gotten used to us showing all of our cards,” Musk said. “We’re not currently showing all our cards.”
Musk’s comments were made when asked to discuss the company’s heavy investment in research and development and capital expenditures.
“Our capex and R&D numbers are better than they appear because there are things you don’t know about,” Musk said.
